One of the best ways to promote, engage, and attract an audience for your company is through your social media presence. Most of our world is connected through apps like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

However, using the apps productively and growing your social media presence can be tricky.

Set Social Media Presence Goals

Why do you want to be on social media? How will this really benefit your company?

What are you hoping to accomplish?

Ask these questions before starting your business’s social media pages. It’s important to know the answers to these questions before you get started, as they will guide the content you share.

Identify and Engage Your Audience

Understand the demographics of your audience and identify what platforms they are using the most.

For example, if you have a younger audience, you might consider having a presence on apps like TikTok and Snapchat.

If your audience consists of a wide range of ages and genders, better options could be Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.

Once your audience has been identified, you need to keep them engaged with content they care about.

For example, Q&As are a great way to get an audience involved while also promoting your expertise.

No matter what content you share, make sure you’re considering what your audience will care about.

Keep Your Social Media Presence Consistent

Once your company is active online, stay active. Don’t just post every once in a while.

Keep a balance of posting weekly and plan content to share ahead of time so you don’t risk running out of things to say.

Remember, Building A Social Media Presence Takes Time

Having a successful platform doesn’t happen overnight. It is crucial to promote the pages yourself and stay consistent.

One of the best ways to connect with your target audience is by slowly growing.

You will get real feedback from people who are interested. It takes time and patience and intentional focus on your target audience.

Focus On Visual Appeal

When you’re scrolling on social media, are you more likely to read a long article, or is your attention captured by a photo or graphic?

For most people, it’s easier to digest information when there is something visual involved. Good examples might include photos (of the product, customers, and events), videos, and infographics.

Social media posts with a visual aspect are more engaging and will catch the eye of the viewer more than text-only content.

Track Your Social Media Presence Progress

Use tools like analytics to see how your social media platforms have grown.

Keep track of your number of followers over time and pay attention to which posts get the most interactions and when.

Analyzing this data will help you know what works for your business and what doesn’t.

Keep Your Unique Voice

Just because a certain type of social media post works for one company doesn’t mean it will work for you. Social media isn’t a one size fits all marketing solution.

Every business has its own unique voice. Keep in mind that what you personally like may not be what your audience will enjoy most about your brand or business.

Align the content you share on social media with your brand identity and tone of voice.
