When you’re a small business, it can be a challenge to know what to prioritize in your marketing budget. Your best choice is to invest in digital marketing, as it has seen incredible growth in recent years with no signs of slowing.

The term “digital marketing” covers everything from your website, social media presence, paid ad strategies, online reviews, and more.

Digital content and marketing tactics have become the primary way we learn about brands and services, and make purchasing decisions.

Digital Marketing Benefits

I could go on and on about the benefits of digital marketing, but no one wants to read a 5,000-word blog post, so let’s talk about three of the biggest ones!

Audience Reach

Digital marketing tactics allow you to reach a much larger audience than you can through traditional marketing channels.

Not only that, you can actively target your ideal customers who are most likely to buy your product or pay for your services.

Measurable Results

While it can be satisfying to see your business on a billboard or printed in a local newspaper advertisement, you can’t measure how effective that marketing is. At least not in the way you can with digital marketing.

Every marketing campaign and effort your business completes online is able to be tracked, evaluated, and adjusted to reach your ideal customers.

Adaptability

Digital marketing is almost endlessly adaptable. This goes back to being able to measure your results.

Example: You send out an email to your customer list to promote an exciting new product you’re featuring. After 24 hours you check the results and aren’t happy with the percentage of people who opened it.

You can adjust the next email in your email marketing campaign to test a different subject line or call to action to try to get better results.

Being able to change your phrasing, the timing of an email, or how you want to appeal to your customers mid-campaign is something traditional marketing can’t do.

Getting Started

Digital marketing can seem overwhelming at first because there are endless opportunities to reach your target audience.

Unfortunately, that has led many small businesses to believe they don’t have the time or resources to compete for business online. That just isn’t true!

If you delay building your business’ online presence it can result in you not being able to get the customers you need and you risk falling behind your competitors.

When someone is interested in your business and the services you provide, the first thing they do is look you up online.

Are your website and online presence representing you in a way that will encourage that person to become a customer?

Every business has one goal in common: growth. Digital marketing can provide you with a variety of opportunities to expand and grow effectively.
